Project Description

For its new global dual-headquarters in Miami, Subway envisioned a base that would highlight both the corporate and the culinary aspects of the iconic sandwich chain. While providing space for 150 employees, the design also included an Innovation Center, allowing employees and the culinary team to collaborate on new sandwiches and products, and a Mock Restaurant to test products in a real-life setting.

The corporate location created unique challenges for a foodservice installation, with upper- and multiple-floor design. Additionally, as there is no gas in the building, all equipment had to be electric. Island Supply was selected to provide the equipment and installation for this project, creating the space to efficiently accommodate these requirements. Working alongside New York design firm JDB, as well as Miami-based general contracting firm Origin Construction, Island Supply made sure every expectation was met and surpassed.

In the Mock Restaurant, Subway’s restaurant format is replicated with a sandwich prep area, beverage station, refrigeration, storage and displays to scale.

The Innovation Center includes all the necessary equipment for the development of new sandwiches and products.

On the tenth floor, Subway Employees can enjoy the cafeteria space, where fresh meals are prepared on-site in a fully-equipped kitchen with the latest foodservice technology. The cafeteria contains a line of prep and display equipment for both hot and cold food, a grab & go section with snacks and sides, and a beverage station.
